My name is Stephanie Sargent.  I am a military veteran (Air Force), wife, and mom to 5 fur babies (and 2 foster dogs).  I went through a few careers before finding my passion with animals. I obtained a bachelor's degree in respiratory therapy and a master's degree in clinical research while on active duty.  After I separated from the Air Force, I went back to college and got a baking and pastry degree.  Food is what led my husband and I to Grand Rapids, MI....but it didn't take long to get into the shelter/volunteer/fostering scene and I knew exactly what I should spend the rest of my life doing!!

I have always loved animals -- I grew up with several dogs and cats throughout my childhood.  But it wasn't until I was in my mid to late 20's and I rescued my own dog that I realized how deeply I loved animals.  While living in Cincinnati, OH I volunteered at the SPCA of Cincinnati.  And when we moved to GR, one of the first things I did was seek out volunteer opportunities.  That landed me as a regular volunteer at Kent County Animal Shelter.  Upon getting to know Rachel (another Pet-Agree gal), I was introduced to Diane and her company.  And here we are today! I am so thankful to have this opportunity to work with and love on animals all over the GR area. My husband says I must have been a dog in a previous life because I have never met a dog that didn't like me!

In my free time, I love to bake for humans and dogs. And my pack consists of me and my husband, Leia (chocolate lab), Steve (schnoodle), Cleo (pictured - pom/bichon mix), Ellie and Eugene (our 2 cats).  We are currently fostering 2 dogs named Tamia and Aaron through Vicki's Pet Connection.
